My T-Mobile PR is getting better

By Joel Rivera, November 21, 2008

For T-Mobile Puerto Rico Customers Only and T-Mobile USA customers if you’re planning to visit Puerto Rico

For those using T-Mobile Puerto Rico (formerly SunCom) my t-mobile puerto rico page is almost fully operational, now you can see your minutes used on the right side of the links. These are only minor improvements still a lot of features to be opened.

T-Mobile USA customers don’t have any problems since they are using the regular https://my.t-mobile.com/login/MyTmobileLogin.aspx login page.

But for Puerto Rico customers they have to use https://my.t-mobile.com/PR/Login/?rc=&dest=https%3a%2f%2fmy.t-mobile.com%3a443%2fPR%2fDefault.aspx login page. This is a customized limited spanish page. Below is a screenshot of the page.

mytmobileprpage My T Mobile PR is getting better

See the page? It’s in Spanish and doesn’t have all the features enabled. So you might be thinking why I’m so pissed off? Well first of all I don’t like to call T-Mobile PR customer service which is the CS of SunCom because they don’t know nothing yet about T-Mobile, if you ask them about a product or plan they say they don’t know.

When I started my T-Mobile service I was living in New Jersey and as you may guess I know what is missing in My Tmobile PR Page since I used My Tmobile USA main page. Now that I moved back to Puerto Rico I change my service to Puerto Rico markets which was served by SunCom.

For that reason Ex-SunCom CS doesn’t know much about T-Mobile USA and how they operate, they are used to SunCom. Also another problem is the signal coverage, if you plan to visit Puerto Rico prepare to have limited signal coverage especially mountains areas.

Unless you are visiting the metro area you will have a lot of coverage issues, coasts are good covered the problem is in deep mountains.

If you have a UMA enabled phone (Phone that connect to the Internet via Wifi) you can benefits of extended coverage when you visit an area with little or no T-Mobile coverage, I use a UMA enable phone because T-mobile coverage is only 1 bar where I live.

Note: To use T-Mobile UMA service you need to connect to an unsecured wifi connection unless you know the password for the secured ones, also if you plan to use it in your home I recommend you to use T-Mobile D-Link router which is customized to work better than the regular routers.

Centennial to become AT&T

By Joel Rivera, November 10, 2008

Wireless companies keeps shrinking themselves, and who’s the candidate this time? Centennial will sell it operation to AT&T, according to AT&T representative they hope the deal is closed by the second quarter of 2009. This buy out will expand AT&T coverage to the Midwest and southwest including Puerto Rico and the US Virgins. The last company purchasing another career was T-Mobile, which finished its name branding on September this year.

AT&T Inc. said Friday it will buy wireless and broadband services provider Centennial Communications Corp. for $944 million in cash.

Dallas-based AT&T said the deal will help expand its wireless coverage in areas of the Midwest and Southeast as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Centennial has about 1.1 million wireless customers.

The company said Centennial stockholders will receive $8.50 per share, more than double Centennial’s Friday closing stock price of $3.84. Including debt, AT&T values the deal at $2.8 billion.

The transaction still needs approval from regulators and Centennial shareholders, but AT&T said it hopes to close the deal in the second quarter of 2009.

AT&T said Centennial’s largest shareholder, the New York private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, has agreed to vote in favor of the transaction.

Shares of Wall, N.J.-based Centennial rose $4.01 to $7.85 in after-hours electronic trading, having closed earlier up 37 cents at $3.84. In the past 52 weeks, shares have ranged between $1.80 and $10.03. AT&T shares closed the regular session up $1.01, or 3.9 percent, at $27.
