How to access safe mode in windows

A way to troubleshooting Windows operating system is by entering in Safe Mode, this feature let’s you identify possible problems related to the operating system. There are 2 ways to access Windows in Safe Mode (1) via boot screen or (2) via MSCONFIG in Windows

Option #1

To access Windows OS in Safe Mode via boot screen do the following steps:

  1. Boot the computer and while booting press and hold F8
  2. On the screen menu look for “Safe Mode” option

Option #2

Access Safe Mode via MSCONFIG

  1. From Start> Run Type: msconfig
  2. Choose the Boot.ini tab
  3. From Boot Option
  4. Select /SAFEBOOT by placing a check in the box.
  5. Press Apply
  6. Press OK
  7. Select Restart
  8. System will boot into Safe Mode
  9. BEFORE rebooting from  Safe mode repeat steps 1 thru 7 and uncheck the box selecting /SAFEBOOT
  10. Press Apply
  11. Press OK
  12. Select Restart
  13. You will get a message that your are in Troubleshooting Mode, place a check in the “do not show this again” box; press OK
  14. From Start> Run; once again Type: msconfig
  15. From the General Tab
  16. Select Normal Startup
  17. Press Apply
  18. Press OK
  19. This will restore normal boot

firefox3 How to clear recent history in firefoxClearing Internet tracks in Firefox is not difficult at all, only you have to do is some simple steps and viola. I will explain the steps very simple or let’s say super simple so you can do it with out any complications.

Steps to clear internet tracks in Firefox:

  1. Click on Tools
  2. Scroll down until you find “Clear Recent History” (Ctrl+Shift+Del) and click on it
  3. A small window will appear, choose from the drop menu the one you prefer and click “Clean now
  4. Wait until it’s finish and viola, you are done

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here’s what it takes:

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

To create Windows 7 System Repair Disk do the following steps:

  1. Go to Start
  2. Maintenance
  3. Create a System Repair Disk

Viola! now you have a system repair disk to get your computer up and running in now time in case it won’t boot.

Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

Maybe you’re happy with Windows 7 new feature “Aero Shake” but for those who aren’t happy and want to disable it here are the steps.

Steps to Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

  • Go to Start, locate the Run box and write inside the box regedit.exe and navigate until you find the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

  • Once you find this key right click on the Windows key and create a new key

Add new key Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

Now right-click on the right-hand side and create a new 32-bit DWORD with the following settings:

  • Name: NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts
  • Value: 1

Windows7 add new key Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

Once you finish adding this file make sure to restart Windows 7 to take the registry modification.

Another option you have is to download Disable Aero Shake from Howtogeek.com,  this little registry hack will do all the work for you.
