Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

Maybe you’re happy with Windows 7 new feature “Aero Shake” but for those who aren’t happy and want to disable it here are the steps.

Steps to Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

  • Go to Start, locate the Run box and write inside the box regedit.exe and navigate until you find the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

  • Once you find this key right click on the Windows key and create a new key

Add new key Disable Windows 7 Aero Shake

Now right-click on the right-hand side and create a new 32-bit DWORD with the following settings:

  • Name: NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts
  • Value: 1

Once you finish adding this file make sure to restart Windows 7 to take the registry modification.

Another option you have is to download Disable Aero Shake from Howtogeek.com,  this little registry hack will do all the work for you.

    Nice tip. I personally think it’s a bit of a gimick that Microsoft has added due to all of the gestures that are available on a Mac.
