Remove start-up programs using MSCONFIG

Did you know there is another way to prevent start-up programs to run when Windows Starts? The utility I’m referring is “MSCONFIG” this is a built in utility that offers control over some Windows features.

This is a power utility and you can do whatever you want with Windows operating system, you can modify system.ini, boot.ini, disable services, remove start up programs, etc… You have to be very careful when you use this program, most PC repair technicians use this utility to disable unwanted services.

Here are the steps to disable start-up programs from staring with Windows

  • Go to Start
  • Click on Run
  • In the Run box write “MSCONFIG” with out the quotes
  • Click OK
  • MSCONFIG window will appear
  • Click on the tab labeled “Startup

  • Uncheck the programs you don’t want to start with Windows and  click  OK
  • Restart the computer, once restarting is completed a small window will pop-up check the small box to avoid seeing this message again.
  • Now the programs you disabled is not loading when Windows starts.
  • That’s it
