Did you know your MySpace account can’t be compromised if you haven’t implemented some security? And how it that possible? Well when you open a new Myspace account the defaults settings are loaded making your account vulnerable to information thefts.

Tips to secure your MySpace Accounts:

  1. Set your profile to private – This will prevent from showing your personal information
  2. Require and email or last name to add as a friend - Only the people who really knows you can be added to your friend lists.
  3. Approve Comments – This feature works similar to Wordpress and Blogger.
  4. Limit access to your blog – Public for all viewers, Dairy Mode only you can see the blog entries, Friends only your friends can view your blog, or preferred list only selected people can access your blog.
  5. Keep your real name off search engines – Remove your first and last name from your profile.
  6. Hide Photo – Please don’t upload your photo to your profile.
  7. Limit your instant messages access – Hide your online status or change the privacy in your messenger.
  8. Filter Group Invites – Change it to Allow Only My Friends.
  9. Block Users – This is useful if you suspect of an unwanted user visiting your myspace blog, go to the user profile and block it access, this will prevent that user to communicate with you via Myspace.

Modify these settings and you will be more safe at least in my space.
