To install the Graphic Video Card do the following:
*To learn how to disable the onboard video card please visit Disable Onboard Video Card
Turn off computer and disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet – Very important (Security) Open Computer Case, Discharge your Static Electricity – How do you that? Easy touch your computer case with both hands for about 40 sec and you’re free to touch the internal circuits.
Locate an available AGP Slot inside your computer, if you don’t see one look for available PCI Slots then. The PCI are the small white slots. Most video cards are installed on AGP (Acceleration Graphic Port) but not all motherboard has it, especially the ones that includes an integrated video card.
In this case PCI Video Card is the best option, OK assuming your computer doesn’t have an AGP because the motherboard you bought includes an integrated video card and this means you will be using a PCI Slot.
Locate an available PCI Slot and insert the Graphic Video Card, now get the screw driver and the little screw that came with the Video Card and attach it to the card. OK now that you’re almost done here! Remember to you have to deactivate the onboard video graphic card, sometimes you have to disable the integrate video card on the motherboard, and sometimes you can disable it from the operating system it depends on the kind of motherboard you’re working.
Now lets get to the driver programming – close the computer case, connect back the power cable to the power supply and turn on the computer , now that the boot up process is completed a new hardware dialog will pop-up cancel that warning and insert the CD that came with the Graphic Video Card. If the CD doens’t run automatically go to Start, My Computer, locate the CD-ROM icon which the default is (D:) unless you have another CD-DRIVE installed in the computer and click on it. Look for the setup icon and click on it and wait for installation to complete.
To set up the new Video Card- Go to Start, Control Panel, Display, Display Settings, and choose the screen resolution for 17″ monitors is (1024 by 768) or 15″ monitors is (800 by 600) congratulation you’re done.
